ASHLAND, Ore -- Wednesday is the first day a new mask rule starts throughout the state of Oregon. You will most likely see more people wearing masks, especially outside.
"Dining looks completely different than before the pandemic." said Elisha Lewis. She is the restaurant manager for Standing Stone Brewing Company. Right now, Standing Stone Brewing Company only has 25 percent of the tables it normally has. Even walking to your table to eat has changed. "With the new Kate Brown mandate for masks, we ask that everyone be masked before they enter the restaurant." said Lewis.
Your mask must stay on until you get to your table to eat. It doesn't matter if you are sitting outside or inside. Governor Brown's new rule requires people to keep the mask on if you can't social distance while you walk to your table. "The safety of our customers and our staff is very important so we ask people to respect the mandate." said Lewis.
New mandates are announced every few weeks. More of these rules have to do with wearing a mask to help slow the spread of the virus. "We want to follow the guidelines. The sooner we follow these guidelines, the sooner we can go back to a normal life. I think we can all agree this is what everyone wants to do." said Lewis.
One of Governor Brown's other new rules does not impact businesses. That rule limits groups of people to 10 or less at indoor social get-togethers. However, Standing Stone is already following this rule.
"We need our customers to come back to us. Our local, loyal customers. Without them we are not going to survive." said Lewis. She hopes by strictly enforcing the mask rules and cleaning from top to bottom; more people will feel comfortable coming to their place to eat.
