GRANTS PASS, Ore --- People are now allowed to buy flavored vaping products again. One local business owner is frustrated they were banned in the first place.
"I'm frustrated because it was THC carts. It wasn't electronic cigarettes." said April Fisher. She is the owner of Tribal Vape in Grants Pass.
Fisher says her customers were scared they were going to have to go back to smoking cigarettes. "We had people coming in here panicking, because they were afraid if their flavors got taken away they were basically going to end up smoking again." said Fisher.
The ban was put in place a few weeks ago because of the lung related illnesses happening in Oregon and across the country. "If you are going to ban something, ban something that you know kills 400,000 people a year. Don't ban something that is saving hundreds of thousands of lives." said Fisher.
Fisher says customers come into her stores looking for products to help them stop smoking traditional cigarettes. She adds vaping helps reduce their dependence on nicotine. "They have the ability to have a zero nicotine device and take care of their hand to mouth habit. They don't go back to smoking." said Fisher.
Inside the store one of the walls is plastered with papers saying 'flavored vaping helped me quit smoking.' "Letting people know, especially our lawmakers that flavors are not just for kids." said Fisher. She says the flavors are what is helping people quit smoking.
Her store is very careful to make sure they aren't selling to kids. "Kids are not allowed in our store. We are here to help adults quit smoking." said Fisher.
