KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Klamath County Public Health reported troubling news in its coronavirus update on Thursday, marking another death attributed to the virus amid 30 new cases.
Officials said that a 70-year-old Klamath County man died at St. Charles Hospital in Bend. He had underlying health conditions and had tested positive for coronavirus, the agency said.
This is the fourth death attributed to COVID-19 in Klamath County since the pandemic began. The last fatality, a 44-year-old man, was reported back at the end of September.
With the 30 new cases reported on Thursday, Klamath County counted a total of 58 cases this week. Officials have been closely tracking case counts over a two-week period due to the impact on how much in-person learning local schools can provide under Oregon's new coronavirus metrics.
Despite the rising cases and latest death, reported hospitalizations from coronavirus have remained relatively low. Klamath County Public Health shows 25 people hospitalized, in total, since the beginning of the pandemic.
