CENTRAL POINT, Ore.,-There were over 100 booths set up at the Sportsmen's and Outdoor Recreation Show at the Jackson County Expo over the weekend. There was something for everything, even kids.
At the Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation booth, kids could shoot at an archery, laser, and BB gun range. Derek LeBlanc, president of the Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation, says that the main goat was to teach kids what to do if they come across an unsecure firearm.
"We lose about 8 to 9 kids per day across the country to an unsecure firearm accident," says LeBlanc, "Every kids that comes to our booth is going to leave with the 4 basic safety rules."
Megan Podoll brought her kids Maggie and Corbin to the show for the 3rd year. She says that this booth is a great learning opportunity for her kids.
"You know they actually get to go through it with an individual who is trained and he gets to explain the different safety rules and then they get to practice them and it's really great to hear them from someone other than just mom and dad," says Podoll.
