LAKE OF THE WOODS, Ore. — A 17-year-old girl from Junction City died in a two-vehicle crash along Highway 140 on Monday, according to Oregon State Police (OSP).
Troopers and emergency crews responded to the crash shortly before 4 p.m. following reports of the crash near milepost 34, just west of Lake of the Woods.
Investigators determined that the 17-year-old had been driving a Chevy SUV eastbound on Highway 140 when she lost control of the vehicle, sliding into the westbound lane. She collided with two people from Klamath Falls driving westbound in a Ford F150 pickup.
The 17-year-old suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, OSP said. 25-year-old Kristen Balin and 27-year-old Jared Aguiar, both in the Ford pickup, were not injured in the crash.
OSP said it was assisted at the scene by ODOT, the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, and Rocky Point Fire.
