GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Josephine County Public Health reported the area's fifth death attributed to coronavirus on Wednesday.
According to public health officials, a 69-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 on November 20 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. He died on Tuesday. Officials said that he had underlying health conditions.
Josephine County Public Health reported 19 new cases of the virus on Wednesday, bringing the county's total since the beginning of the pandemic to 577. Of those cases, 64 are currently presumptive and 513 are confirmed. 258 cases are still being actively monitored as infectious.
"Public Health officials were notified of the cases by the official medical record system provided by the Oregon Health Authority," the agency said. "Josephine County Public Health is investigating all cases to identify contacts and exposures and to isolate and monitor all individuals relevant to the cases. Public Health will reach out to anyone suspected of exposure to COVID-19."
