Jackson County prepares for Macklemore concert

Jackson County officials expect between 6,000 and 7,000 people to attend the free Macklemore concert at the Jackson County Expo.

CENTRAL POINT, Ore.-- Jackson County officials expect between 6,000 and 7,000 people to attend the free Macklemore concert at the Jackson County Expo. Jackson County Administrator Danny Jordan expects people to start getting in line as early as 2PM.

"It's becoming quite an ordeal," Jordan said. "It kind of blew up a little bigger than expected but I think we'll have it covered."

Jackson County deputies will be providing security alongside contracted CYA Security.

If you're heading to the concert, expect traffic getting out of the parking lots. Jackson County is using the same traffic plan it has used at major events like BoomFest to keep it moving.

"We feel like we're doing everything we can but the truth is when you get a whole lot of people at one spot like that things slow down," Jordan added.

Penninger Road will be closed to anyone trying to get into the Expo for an hour once the concert ends. Both lanes will be for cars leaving the parking lots. Jackson County deputies say to keep this in mind when you drop anyone off. Cars coming out of the north parking lots will be directed to Upton Road. Cars in the south parking lots will be directed toward Pine Street.

Deputies will also be looking for impaired drivers.

The free concert is Friday, October 4th. Doors open at 6pm. US Cellular customers are allowed in 30 minutes earlier. The concert starts at 7pm.
