MEDFORD, Ore. -- Today, Jackson County Public Health is announcing 9 new cases of Covid-19. The county now has had 1,254 cases, after health officials missed counting one new case from yesterday.

185 cases of the coronavirus are still active in the county and the 9 new cases today push the weekly total past the 100 mark.

Most of the active and new cases that Jackson County has seen over the last few weeks have been coming from people between the ages of 20 and 39. Almost 500 total cases have come from that age range group and more than 60 of the 184 active cases are from that same age range group.

Jackson County Health Officials are asking people to take extra precautions this fall and winter seasons since both the flu and Covid-19 will be affecting people. Both the flu and Covid-19 have similar symptoms such as fever, sore throat, coughing and more.

Health officials are saying that everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season, especially people at high risk.
