CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. -- The Sasquatch Wine, Art and Golf Festival is happening Saturday May 4th –Sunday, May 5th. There will be live music, wine and beer tastings, food vendors and more.
It is Sasquatch themed since rumored sightings have happened in the area in the early 2000s. The Chamber said having a Sasquatch Festival in May will serve as the kick-off for the summer tourism season.
“We wanted to kick the summer off with something fun that families could get into. We're tying it in with the National Park Service. We're going to be offering nature walks. We've got the National Park Service bouncy house for the kids. We just wanted to show everyone the beauty of the Illinois Valley,” said Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Tina Casey-Jones. “This will put us on the map in terms of being one of the greatest music venues in southern Oregon. We will definitely be competing with some of the big ones a little further south from us. This is going to be an annual event. We’re also using this as a dry run or trial run for some summer concerts we'd like to have in this exact spot.”
Camping is allowed if you'd like to stay the entire weekend. The festival itself is free but parking is $5. If you'd like to sample any of the wine available you'll also have to pay a fee.
