MEDFORD, Ore. — Fire crews responded to reports of smoke emanating from a home today, March 13, in the 2000 block of Ruhl Way in Medford.
Initial reports from a NewsWatch 12 reporter on the scene indicated that the fire started in the kitchen of the home, badly burning that room. The rest of the house sustained significant smoke damage.

One resident and a pet were present in the home at the time of the fire, but escaped unharmed.
Fire crews were able to arrive at the scene within four minutes of the first report—thanks, in part, to their close proximity. Both Medford Fire and Jackson County Fire District 3 responded.
A fire investigator is at the scene, trying to determine what may have caused the fire.
