CENTRAL POINT, Ore. -- Parts of the Rogue Valley are under a wind advisory which means we could see winds at 20 to 30mph and gusts up to 40mph. Winds at 20 to 25mph could be enough to knock down a tree, according to arborist, Jeff Ford with Quality Tree Service.
"A little bit of visual inspection as the winds are blowing and you can usually catch something in advance," said Ford, "I do encourage people to go out if the winds are blowing, if it’s safe, and apply their hand to their tree and their feet to the ground and you can usually tell if there is some movement down low and that would be a sign."
In order to keep trees standing tall during storms Ford recommends that you get your trees inspected every five to six years.
"Different trees grow at different rates and have different problems but a good general rule of thumb is every 5 to 6 years."
