SUNNY VALLEY, Ore. -- Rural Metro Fire in Josephine County reported on Sunday afternoon that a new fire had been found on Upper Graves Creek Rd near Ditch Creek Rd, in between Sunny Valley and Wimer.
According to the agency, the Oregon Department of Forestry quickly arrived on the scene and established a wet line around the fire.
ODF public information officer Kyle Riley estimated on Sunday afternoon that the fire had burned around 5 acres and was mostly contained. By Monday, ODF said that the fire's size had been more accurately mapped at 2.1 acres — fully contained and almost completely mopped up.
Four crews, eight engines, two bulldozers, three helicopters and two air tankers were used to help get the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
This is a developing story and we will have more information when it becomes available.
