UPDATE- 8:09 PM: According to Medford Fire Department, Level 1 Wildfire Evacuation notices for the areas of Medford's Evacuation Zone MD-1: North and West of Crater Lake Hwy, east of Table Rock Road, south of E Villas Rd have been cancelled.
Biddle Road has also begun reopening to the community. Fire crews will remain on the scene continuing with mop up operations throughout the night.
UPDATE - 5:12 pm: Medford Fire Department said as of 5:12 pm Sunday, the five-acre fire along the Bear Creek Greenway has been contained. They will remain on scene to watch for spot fires and begin mop-up efforts.
Biddle Road will remain closed between Airport Road and Hilton Court until mop-up is completed.
UPDATE - 4:58 pm: The fire on the Bear Creek Greenway has now burned five acres of land, according to the Medford Fire Department. An RV Park and businesses near the fire have been evacuated, but no evacuation orders are currently in place at this time.
Strong winds are also fueling spot fires, making the fire harder to contain.
According to Medford Fire, the location of the fire and the surrounding buildings are making direct access to the fire difficult. Medford Fire is on scene along with Jackson County Fire District 3, Oregon Department of Forestry, the Medford Police Department and Jackson County Sheriffs.
MEDFORD, Ore. — A vegetation fire is currently burning on Biddle Road with multiple agencies responding. The fire was first reported along the Bear Creek Greenway near Interstate 5 mile marker 31.5.
The latest reports from fire officials say the fire is about a quarter-mile in length.
No evacuations are in place at this time. According to NewsWatch 12 reporter, one structure has burned.
Biddle Road is closed between Airport Road and Hilton Court.
