MEDFORD, Ore. — A Jackson County grand jury on Tuesday returned an indictment for the man accused of murdering two people northeast of Wimer last week, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested 35-year-old Joshua Robert Miller in the early hours of Friday morning following a search that began Wednesday evening.
According to previous statements from the Sheriff's Office, Miller shot and killed two men — a father and son — later identified as 35-year-old Shane Roork and 58-year-old Duane Roork, both from Mendocino County in California. Miller also allegedly shot at a third man, whom the Sheriff's Office has so far declined to identify.
After killing the Roorks, Miller allegedly took their bodies and hid them in the woods, about a half-mile from where they were killed.
Miller turned up at a nearby property on Thursday, prompting the homeowner to call law enforcement. He was taken into custody several hours later.
The grand jury met on Tuesday and reviewed the case against Miller, ultimately returning an eight-count indictment: two counts of Murder in the First Degree, two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Attempted Murder, two counts of Abuse of a Corpse in the Second Degree, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Miller remains at the Jackson County Jail, awaiting further court proceedings.
