MEDFORD, Ore. -- Your cup of coffee can make a difference, this morning. The Human Bean and Kids Unlimited are kicking off their Hope for the Holidays fundraiser.

Customers can stop by any Human Bean in Medford, Ashland, Central Point and White City to help make sure kids have enough to eat during the holidays. You can donate $20 for a free 20 oz. drink or you can donate $10 for a buy one get one free card. All donations will help Kids Unlimited create holiday food baskets for Rogue Valley students.

It costs about $50 to make a food basket for one family. That's because it comes with a turkey or ham and everything else that's needed for a holiday meal.

Kids Unlimited is a non-profit that runs a public charter academy. They focus on empowerment through opportunity and teaching kids that there's always room to grow.

Kids Unlimited also runs after-school programs at ten different Title 1 schools. They focus on these schools because 95 percent of students who attend need free or reduced lunch.

Your donation at the human bean will make sure those students get a food basket for the holidays. Last year, Kids Unlimited helped more than 200 students. This year, they said they want to help even more.

"What we as a school have to do is try to fill that gap," said Kids Unlimited Academy Principal Jani Hale. "We have to provide that joy, that love, that family feeling, that acceptance for these kids for where they are now. We just need to love them."

Baristas at the Human Bean said they're confident the community will show their support for the fundraiser.

"You never realize how tight knit of a community we are until things like that happen," said Morgan Darnall, a Human Bean barista. "You get to see all the customers come in and donate. It just shows you we're all together in this."

If you can't swing by the Human Bean today, don't worry. They'll be taking donations for the next six weeks.

Kids Unlimited is also accepting donations online. Click here to donate.
