MEDFORD, Ore. — Officials with the U.S. Forest Service have instituted a "general shutdown" of all industrial actions in the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District and High Cascades Ranger District, raising the Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) to 4.
The new restrictions apply to contractors and permit holders, including those with permits to cut firewood for personal use. It includes the use of any power saws or yarding.
According to USFS officials, the IFPL increase comes due to continued dry weather and current fire activity, as firefighters continue to battle multiple fires throughout Southern Oregon.
