ASHLAND, Ore--- The Pacific Rim Bowl has been a tradition for 31 years. The game features Ashland High School, and the Japanese All-Stars.
This may seem like your ordinary football game. It goes much deeper than that.
Among those watching this weekend, is Hideko Tamura. Tamura is a survivor of the Hiroshima Bombing, back in 1945.
For her, and so many others, this game symbolizes the peace and friendship built between the two countries.
She spoke at the Peace Ceremony for the game this week. She spoke of her experiences with the nuclear attack. She also gave important life advice to the young athletes.
The players are ready for a football game, and will treat it competitively. They will carry the lessons with them, for life.
You can attend the game at Walter A. Phillips Field, at Ashland High School. It will be on Friday, August 26th, at 7:30. Tickets cost eight dollars.
