GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Firefighters rushed to extinguish flames seen at an Italian restaurant in Grants Pass in the early hours of Monday morning, according to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.
Fire crews responded to Gianelli's "A Taste of Italy" restaurant at 211 NE A Street after a passerby reported seeing flames coming through a window on the second floor shortly before 3:30 a.m.
"Fire crews arrived to find fire venting through a window on the second story," GPDPS said in a statement.
Crews got inside through a second-story staircase and were able to extinguish the fire in less than ten minutes. Nonetheless, the fire caused some minor damage to the restaurant.
GPDPS said that Gianelli's will have to remain closed for a short time for repairs.
"Damage to the upstairs office area was held to a minimum due to an aggressive fire attack and salvage operation by fire crews," the agency said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the fire can call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety at 541-450-6200.
