GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Firefighters from Grants Pass Fire-Rescue were called to a fire at a commercial timber mill just before midnight last night, according to the Department of Public Safety (GPDPS).
Crews arrived at Timber Products mill to find a fire in the duct work of a building used for drying plywood.
"Grants Pass along with Rural Metro Fire Department utilized their crews to establish a work plan with the mills employees and also set up a water supply for an elevated master stream," the agency said.
Firefighters and employees of the mill worked together to contain the fire to the ducts before it could spread. GPDPS said that crews continued to stand by while the mill's supervisors ran through their policy and procedures for this kind of emergency.
"The fire inside the duct was able to be controlled and the management team from Timber Products were able to handle any further issues in this system," the agency said.
Fire crews handed over the remaining remaining work to the mill's management team. GPDPS said that nobody was injured in the fire.
