DRY LAKE, Calif-- Firefighters have made excellent progress on the Coyote Fire that is burning in the Modoc National Forest, as crews have increased containment to 20 percent, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
More accurate mapping shows the Coyote Fire is 110 acres after initial mapping projected that the fire was between 60 to 65 acres in size.
There is a Red Flag Warning this afternoon for winds 10-15 mph, gusts to 30 and low humidity. Fire-safety restrictions are also in place with campfires banned outside specific sites.
Currently several helicopters, multiple dozers and a couple hand crews are battling the flames.
