ETNA, Calif. -- Fire officials with Klamath and Shasta-Trinity National Forests released an update on the River Complex, announcing it has burned 198,248 total acres with 65% containment.
The plan for Sunday is to keep the uncontrolled fire edge from gaining intensity and keeping the fire from moving into a position which would be influenced by upcoming wind. Crews will continue to keep the Cronan fire within existing control lines and prevent the Haypress fire from spreading to private property and surrounding communities.
More favorable weather conditions are forecast to start Monday. Although there will be limited precipitation along the eastern perimeter of the fire, cooler temperatures and increased humidity will give the crews the opportunity to continue to increase their containment of the fire utilizing direct handline construction.
