Due to steep terrain, crews are utilizing natural rock formations, existing road networks, and burn scars from previous fires to contain the fire’s progression. In the northeastern area of the Haypress Fire, dozers and hand crews are working to contain spot fires which occurred near Craggy Peak.
The decreased fire activity has allowed crews to begin scouting new contingency lines south of the community of Callahan. Helicopters are conducting air water drops to contain spot-fires near Callahan as visibility permits. In the southeastern fire perimeter, crews are conducting direct fire suppression operations north and south of Coffee Creek.
