HOLLAND, Ore. — Firefighters are responding to a growing wildfire on timberlands roughly nine miles southeast of Cave Junction, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry.
The Tarter Gulch Fire was last reported at 15 to 20 acres, burning on timber harvest land that was recently replanted. ODF said that no homes or structures are threatened in the remote area, and no evacuations are in place.
Crews from both ODF and the Illinois Valley Fire District are on the scene. As of roughly 3:30 p.m., there were four engines, a hand crew, and a bulldozer working to contain the fire. Two more dozers and a water tender were on the way.
"The fire is burning on a slope and wind is currently fueling it," ODF said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
