GOLD HILL, Ore. — A cabin north of Gold Hill was destroyed by fire on Sunday night, though firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading into surrounding wildlands.
According to Scott Downing, Battalion Chief for Fire District 3, fire crews arrived to find a vacant two-story cabin along Upper River Road fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was called in from visible flames from across the river at 8:42 p.m. It took fire crews roughly 20 minutes to get to the scene.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
The Oregon Department of Forestry was on the scene to monitor embers and keep flames from spreading to the wildland area.
