TULELAKE, Calif. -- Evacuation orders are in place for some parts of Tulelake due to the spread of the Caldwell Fire.
The Modoc County Sheriff's Office put out evacuation orders for the following areas:
MANDATORY EVACUATIONS for the following roads in the Tulelake area south of HWY 139:
County Road 120 to 124
County Road 121 to 124
All residents with property bordering the forest or Lava beds from 120-124.
EVACUATION WARNINGS for all Copic, Panhandle and Peninsula areas south of HWY 139.
The Caldwell Fire is part of the July Complex, and has burned 13,125 acres with no containment.
As of Sunday night, the July Complex has burned over 15,440 acres in total and is 30 percent contained.
The U.S. Forest Service-Modoc National Forest says Sunday's thunderstorms caused outflow winds that contributed to rapid fire spread.
