EUGENE, Ore.--The Oregon Ducks have named Mario Cristobal their full-time head football coach, according to multiple reports.
Cristobal had been previously elevated from co-offensive coordinator to interim head coach for Oregon's December 16th bowl game. In what was likely an effort to stabilize the 2018 recruiting class, athletic director Rob Mullens acted quickly and promoted him once more.
Cristobal had garnered a wave of support on social media from current and future Ducks players. In the wake of former head coach Willie Taggart departing for Florida State, many indicated they'd still honor commitments to Oregon if Cristobal were named the permanent head coach.
Prior to joining Oregon in January, Cristobal had served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Alabama for four years.
