WONDER, Ore. — Fire officials say that one person is dead after a crash on Redwood Highway at Hayes Hill in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Units from Rural Metro Fire, AMR, the Illinois Valley Fire District, and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded shortly before 1 a.m. to reports of a crash near milepost 15 on Highway 199, along the S-curves of Hayes Hill.
Rural Metro said that RMFD Engine 7504 from the Wilderville Station found the vehicle off the roadway, rolled onto its top and fully involved in flames.
Firefighters managed to knock down the flames and keep spread unto the surrounding brush to a minimum. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Rural Metro said.
Oregon State Police is investigating the crash. This is a developing story and will be updated with more details as they emerge.
