KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A Beatty man was killed after his car slid into a Klamath County school bus on Highway 140 east of Klamath Falls on Thursday, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers and emergency crews respond to reports of the two-vehicle crash on Highway 140E a few miles west of Dairy shortly before 9 a.m.
An preliminary investigation of the scene found that 51-year-old David Hauck of Beatty was driving westbound in a Ford Bronco when he lost control on the icy road, sliding into the eastbound lane. Hauck slammed into a school bus from the Klamath County School District, driven by 77-year-old Stewart Hedges of Klamath Falls.
Hauck was killed in the resulting crash, OSP said. Hedges had minor injuries. The agency's statement did not indicate if there were any children in the bus when the crash occurred, but did not report any other injuries.
Highway 140E was closed for roughly three hours during the response from OSP, firefighters, traffic crews, and the Klamath County Sheriff's Office.
