WEED, Calif. —
UPDATE: Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit arrested a Weed man on suspicion of murder Thursday morning, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
The agency said that deputies and detectives had been looking into a missing person report that led to the search of a house in the Carrick Addition area northeast of Weed.
At the house, investigators discovered a body that was believed to be the missing man. Around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, they arrested 37-year-old Robert Henry Tessmer Jr. of Weed. Tessmer was taken to the Siskiyou County Jail and booked on murder charges.
"An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, and to confirm the identity of the decedent, is scheduled for today, October 11, 2019," the Sheriff's Office said. "The name of the decedent is being withheld until his identity is confirmed and the next of kin is notified."

INITIAL REPORT: Detectives are looking into a "suspicious death" following the discovery of a body in the community of Carrick, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
A brief statement posted by the Sheriff's Office on Facebook divulged few details about the case.
"The identity of the deceased person is being withheld pending notifying the next-of-kin," the Sheriff's Office said. "More information will be provided in the future. If anyone has information relating to this investigation, please contact Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at (530) 841-2900."
