CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Detectives with the Central Point Police Department arrested the suspect in a rape case last week, the agency said in a statement on Thursday.
The investigation began in late September, CPPD said. Last Thursday, detectives arrested 19-year-old Jaray Thomas on a charge of Rape in the First Degree. Court documents indicate that the victim was a child under the age of 14, and Thomas is also accused of providing her alcohol during the crime.
Thomas is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bail.
"The Central Point Police Department has recently developed reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident," the agency said.
Anyone with information about the case, or "other incidents involving the suspect," is asked to contact the Central Point Police Department at 541-664-5578 and ask for Detective Vargas, case #20-6770.
