WIMER, Ore. -- Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies are still searching for 35-year-old Joshua Robert Miller, the suspect in a reported shooting outside of Rogue River. They say it has been difficult to find Miller because of the rural location.
Public information officer Mike Moran says the area is so big that it provides several hiding spaces, especially if someone knows the back roads.
Moran says those unfamiliar areas are requiring more time and effort from police. That's also because there are buildings and other properties that might not be occupied.
He says they have to be methodical in order to find any evidence. Most importantly, Moran says they need to keep the officers safe and apprehend the suspect safely.
"I believe the best course of action after darkness falls is if you have an armed suspect, you take precautions and know where you're going and make sure it's safe as much as you can before you enter," Moran said.
Miller is wanted for questioning by investigators.
At this point, officials say they haven't received any tips on where he could be.
