CENTRAL POINT, Ore. —
UPDATE: The Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) has identified the man killed in a shooting near Central Point on Thursday afternoon.
38-year-old Nicholas Patrick Kubasiak lived at the home in the 6600-block of Ponderosa Street at the time of the shooting, the Sheriff's Office said. The Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy on Kubasiak's body on Thursday, but results are being kept under wraps.
"Investigation into the matter will continue and no further information will be available until next week," the agency said in a brief statement.
Mike Moran with JCSO no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

INITIAL REPORT: One man is dead following a shooting in Central Point on Thursday afternoon, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office has confirmed.
Public inormation officer Mike Moran said that units responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot coming from a house in the 6600-block of Ponderosa Street between Central Point and White City, near the intersection with W Gregory Road.
Deputies arrived at the scene to find a man dead outside of the house, the Sheriff's Office said.
Everyone involved in the shooting has since been accounted for, officers on the scene told NewsWatch 12. The Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) is now on the scene and will be leading the investigation.
"The scene is contained and there is no continuing threat to the safety of the public," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
