This will actually be the 100th time American's move their clocks forward an hour. The first daylight saving time happened in 1918, during World War 1. It was done to conserve coal.
Some states are trying do away with daylight saving time. Oregon, California and Washington have all introduced bills that would keep each state permanently on daylight saving time.
California asked voters last year if they would support the measure. It passed by a 60% vote. Oregon would still need voter approval if the bill passes and all states will need congressional approval to make the change. However, most people in Arizona and Hawaii already don't change their clocks.

It's recommended you have smoke alarms on every level of your home. You should also have them outside sleeping areas and inside bedrooms. You should be testing those alarms once a month.
