MEDFORD, Ore. - Today the Jackson County Sheriff's Office participated in the nationwide DEA Drug Take Back effort between 10 am to 2 pm today. There were five boxes lined up inside where old prescription drugs could be dropped off for free.
The event is help remove drugs off the street. It is very important to drop off old or unused prescription drugs, bottles of pills in the trash could be redistributed in the streets illegally.
Only pills and vitamins are allowed for drop off, needles and biohazard's are not allowed. All drugs and bottles dropped off will be destroyed.
Although the event was today, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office has a year round prescription drop off box inside the main office.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office does recommend that people scratch off the name and address label off of the bottle before dropping it off, but all prescription drug drop offs are confidential
