CURRY COUNTY, Ore. — A 92-year-old woman is one of Oregon's latest lives to be claimed by the novel coronavirus that has infected nearly 45,000 people in the state. According to the Oregon Health Authority's report Saturday, the woman had underlying health conditions and was the state's 682nd death since they began tracking cases.
Along with the southern Oregon death, 13 more people were reported dead by OHA as of Saturday, raising the state's total to 689 COVID-related deaths.
The state reported 555 new cases as well on Saturday, including two new cases in Curry County, 12 new cases in Jackson County, four more cases in Josephine County, and three new cases in Klamath County.
Oregon now has 44,921 confirmed and presumptive cases of the novel coronavirus, poised to surpass the 45,000-mark on Sunday. For the last three days, OHA has reported a daily total of over 550 new cases.
The United States surpassed 9 million new cases recently and trends continue to show an increase in infections.
