UPDATE: GRANTS PASS, Ore-- Last night, on October 3, 2020, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) responded to multiple calls of a man being on the roadways of Redwood Highway 199. A few minutes later a caller reported the male had been hit by a vehicle. When GPDPS officers arrived on the scene they found a deceased man lying on the roadway.
The man has been identified as 68-year-old Timothy Frank Morningstar and the driver of the vehicle who initially struck Morningstar remained on scene.
GPDPS detectives and the Oregon State Police investigated the scene and revealed that there was no criminal contact associated with the driver who struck Morningstar.
Authorites are asking anyone who may have witnessed this event to contact the GPDPS at 541-450-6260.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety is investigating multiple crashes in Grants Pass.
Redwood Highway is now closed heading south at mile marker 1.4 after a man was struck and killed by a car around 9:30 pm Saturday night, according to Grants Pass police. No additional details about the pedestrian were disclosed by police. The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety says Redwood Highway will remain closed until at least 11 pm Saturday.
The driver did not sustain any injuries according to police.
There's an additional closure in the City of Grants Pass after a vehicle drove into a power pole on N 7th Street.
