UPDATE: Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5

8 people have been taken to the hospital after a five-car crash on Interstate 5 Saturday night near milepost 28.

MEDFORD, Ore. --

9:30 a.m. UPDATE: 

The crash involved 6 vehicles. One of the vehicles was a semi-truck with a trailer. Oregon State Police say a car had reportedly stopped in the right lane for unknown reasons causing other vehicles to slow and come to a stop. The semi-truck did not react accordingly. It rear-ended/ crashed into all four vehicles . The semi-driver was cited and place out of service for 10 hours for not using an ELD.

Citation/Warning issued to Driver: Garcia Javier Navarro 54 year old male from Salem, Oregon. 

Driver, Victim: Carmell Maureen Bassoni, 53 year old female from Grants Pass, Oregon. 

Passenger, Victim: Sarmila Dahal, 34 year old female from San Leandro, California. 

Driver, Victim: Forest Elbert Hill, 58 year old male from Grants Pass, Oregon.

Passenger, Victim: Parameshwar Paudel 46 year old male from California. 

Passenger: Nolan Phillips 28 year old male. 

Driver, Victim: Shiloh Nicole Phillips 27 year old female from Ashland, Oregon. 

Driver, Victim: William Francis Smith III 50 year old male from Medford, Oregon. 

Passenger, Victim: Melanie V Smith 42 year old female from Medford Oregon.

Passenger, Victim: Juvenile 5 year old female from Guerneville, Oregon. 

Passenger, Victim: Juvenile 6 year old male from Guerneville, Oregon 

Driver Victim: Laxmi Kumari Yadav 28 year old female from Guerneville, Oregon.

11:40 p.m. UPDATE: Oregon State Police say at least five cars were involved in Saturday night's crash on Interstate 5. 

OSP says eight patients were taken to local hospitals. 

Their conditions are not yet known.

Both Northbound lanes are now open.

9:15 p.m. UPDATE: Medford Fire-Rescue says eight patients were taken to local hospitals in Saturday night's multi-vehicle crash involving five cars and a commercial truck.

Multiple crews are still on the scene doing extensive clean-up.

8:50 p.m. UPDATE: ODOT says a multi-vehicle crash, including a commercial truck, is blocking the NB right lane. 

Traffic is getting by on the left lane, but traffic is backed up past the viaduct.

ODOT, OSP and fire and medical crews will be on the scene doing extensive clean-up and crash investigation.

Drivers should avoid the area and expect delays. 

8:00 p.m. UPDATE: The Oregon Department of Transportation says a multi-vehicle crash, including a commercial truck, is blocking the Northbound right lane of Interstate 5 near milepost 28.

ODOT says traffic is getting by on the left lane, but traffic is backed up onto the viaduct. 

Drivers should expect delays and avoid the area. 

7:40 p.m. UPDATE:

TripCheck is reporting a crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 28.

As of 7:40 p.m. Saturday, both northbound lanes are closed from the crash. Drivers should avoid the area and use caution.
