MEDFORD, Ore. --
9:30 a.m. UPDATE:
The crash involved 6 vehicles. One of the vehicles was a semi-truck with a trailer. Oregon State Police say a car had reportedly stopped in the right lane for unknown reasons causing other vehicles to slow and come to a stop. The semi-truck did not react accordingly. It rear-ended/ crashed into all four vehicles . The semi-driver was cited and place out of service for 10 hours for not using an ELD.

11:40 p.m. UPDATE: Oregon State Police say at least five cars were involved in Saturday night's crash on Interstate 5.
OSP says eight patients were taken to local hospitals.
Their conditions are not yet known.
Both Northbound lanes are now open.
9:15 p.m. UPDATE: Medford Fire-Rescue says eight patients were taken to local hospitals in Saturday night's multi-vehicle crash involving five cars and a commercial truck.
Multiple crews are still on the scene doing extensive clean-up.
8:50 p.m. UPDATE: ODOT says a multi-vehicle crash, including a commercial truck, is blocking the NB right lane.
Traffic is getting by on the left lane, but traffic is backed up past the viaduct.
ODOT, OSP and fire and medical crews will be on the scene doing extensive clean-up and crash investigation.
Drivers should avoid the area and expect delays.
8:00 p.m. UPDATE: The Oregon Department of Transportation says a multi-vehicle crash, including a commercial truck, is blocking the Northbound right lane of Interstate 5 near milepost 28.
ODOT says traffic is getting by on the left lane, but traffic is backed up onto the viaduct.
Drivers should expect delays and avoid the area.
7:40 p.m. UPDATE:
TripCheck is reporting a crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 28.
As of 7:40 p.m. Saturday, both northbound lanes are closed from the crash. Drivers should avoid the area and use caution.
