LAKE SHASTINA, Calif. — A controversial sign outside of the Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church was vandalized following a rally against the church's message, according to organizers. However, they say that they intend to help the church repair the sign — in spite of its message.

Prior to the act of vandalism, the sign outside of Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church featured the statement: "Bruce Jenner is still a man / Homosexuality is still sin / The culture may change / The Bible does not."

The sign was vandalized sometime on Tuesday night.

"I woke this morning to find that our sign had been vandalized. They broke not only the plexiglas and stole some of the letters, they also busted the power box," said Justin Hoke, Pastor of the Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

"While we all objected strongly to the message that they displayed publicly, we condemn the use of violence and destruction of property that this person responsible has chosen. To our knowledge, nobody affiliated with our peaceful rally was involved, and if we do become aware of the culprit we will be informing the local authorities," said rally organizer Amelia Mallory.

In their original response to the sign, the local LGBTQ community and their supporters organized a "Love Rally" on January 6. Now they intend to rally again on January 13 — but this time with the added intent of raising money to repair the church sign.

"To show our love for our neighboring church, despite the dogma they preach, we have decided that this Sunday at our rally we will have a collection to help the church with repairs to their sign. While we are donating with no strings attached, we do hope that pastor Hoke will reflect on the generosity of those he rebukes before posting another similar message," Mallory said.
