MERLIN, Ore. -- Community members visited what was left of the Galice Resort, one day after the fire that burned down the lodge. People stood there in awe while remembering everything the family owned rafting business offered.
Orange Torpedo Trips in Merlin is now extending rafts and shuttles to Galice.
"Mostly, we just feel terrible for the owners of the lodge, employees of the lodge," said Orange Torpedo operations manager Kory Mahr.
Galice Resort offered libations, restaurant services, and live music out on the deck, while people could enjoy the scenery of the Rogue River.
Orange Torpedo trips is continuing to offer it's bar services through it's partnership with Taco Mania next door, but Mahr says nothing compares to the atmosphere felt while at Galice Resort.
Mary Lou Thomason, mother to the owner of the resort, says insurance will cover some of the damage, but a Go Fund Me started by Miranda Aschoff has already raised more than $2,000 to support owners with any expenses insurance will not cover.
The family is asking the community for privacy and prayers at this time, as they begin to plan the next steps for their business.
