SELMA, Ore. -- The winds shifted over the Klondike Fire today providing relief for people who live near the fire but also new challenges today for firefighters.
Many people were out and about taking advantage of the clear day. But fire officials say with the inversion gone, it also means the fire was getting fresh oxygen and they were paying close attention to what happened as the wind picked up.

This means firelines are being tested and smoke columns were visible.
And that has people who live nearby worried
Montgomery Leach who lives nearby described what many people are feeling. "It's kind of scary, of course," he explained. "Cause you never know, like, where another fire might start or you know, it could happen really quick and sometimes there's no stopping it."
Local business owners say all the smoke has definitely impaired their business. Brian Holsclaw manages Papa's Sporting Goods & More. “We’re here at Papa’s sporting goods store and the fire has affected us tremendously," he said. "We opened up about 2 months ago and initially had a lot of customers in the building. And then once the smoke hit, customers stopped coming in.”
