CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Detectives raided the home of a Central Point man on Wednesday after following up on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), according to a statement from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation began on September 2 after detectives were told about "suspicious online activity" by the Oregon Department of Justuce's Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The DOJ, in turn, had learned about a Facebook user uploading images of child sex abuse from NCMEC.
Investigators later identified 32-year-old Armando Rangel Valle as the suspect, the Sheriff's Office said. On Wednesday morning, detectives served a search warrant at Valle's home in the 700-block of Beall Lane, seizing electronic devices and about one ounce of methamphetamine.
Valle has been jailed on four counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the first degree and one felony count of possession of methamphetamine. His initial bail is set at $47,500.
"Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the JCSO tip line at (541) 770-8333. Refer to case #19-18593," the Sheriff's Office said.
