MEDFORD, Ore. -- Some Central Medford High School students are making it there mission to help homeless people in our community.
The leadership class is collecting items to put together care packages. The kits will contain personal care items. Each one will be geared toward a man or a woman.
"We should all just care for them. So, I want to be that person. That even when their own family don’t care about them. Somebody does and someone is willing to go out of their way to help them," said Sophia Meccia. She's one of the student helping with the drive.
The packages will include things like hair brushes, tooth brushes, deodorant, and hats. Students also plan to include a list of community assistance resources that available for people suffering from homelessness.
The goal is to make at least 72 kits, but the students said they will make as many kits as they get donations for.
The students are hoping to hand out the care packages before Christmas.
You can drop off donations at Central Medford High School, 815 S Oakdale Ave, Medford, OR 97501. The students have also made an Amazon wish list for anyone who wants to donate that way.
