GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Caveman Bridge in Grants Pass will be closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for overnight construction between 9:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Construction crews will be applying a new deck surface on the bridge, one side each night.
The Caveman Bridge project began last October and is expected to be completed in February 2019.
People who live and work nearby understand the inconvenience but say it will improve the city.
"Anytime you upgrade city amenities and the areas that people want to visit and walk through, it's going to promote more people moving to the area and staying." said Gene Bradley, owner of Smokey's Stoves.
Anyone who forgets about the closure will be redirected to a detour just a few blocks north of the bridge. It will take them on a detour onto Highway 199.
