CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. -- Residents in the Cave Junction community are speaking out after a police standoff left two people dead on Monday afternoon.
Jeanette Montgomery has lived in Cave Junction for 45 years and currently owns the Liquor Store. She says crime isn't uncommon in Cave Junction, but she hasn't seen a domestic violence incident like this before.
Montgomery says the situation was devastating for everyone who was involved.
"It's sad, it breaks my heart," Montgomery said. "It breaks my heart for the victim that had nothing to do with this. It breaks my heart for the woman that survived, that was able to get away -- the way she must feel."
The incident is still under investigation and is currently being handled by the Major Assault Death Invetigation Unit of Jackson County.
