Catching the Lunar Eclipse in Our Region

Due to weather activity Southern Oregon and Northern California will most likely not be able to see the lunar eclipse.

MEDFORD--  Tonight is the only total lunar eclipse of the year and it will be a supermoon as well!

Tonight's eclipse will be a treat for stargazers throughout the Western Hemisphere. Unfortunately, for those of us in Southern Oregon and Northern California, the celestial event will most likely be obscured by clouds. We have a system bringing plenty of rain and mountain snow to the region today and the unsettled will likely stay with us through the evening.

The total eclipse on the west coast will be between 8:41 P.M. and 9:44 P.M. and at that time there will still be rain and snow showers in the area. If precipitation is not directly in your neighborhood, there is still a high chance the region as a whole will be shrouded in a thick layer of clouds.

Unfortunately, this celestial event will probably not be seen in it's full glory for Southern Oregon or Northern California. There is never any harm in just stepping outside to take a peek at the sky. You could always get that lucky break in the clouds to at least catch a glimpse of the only total 2019 lunar eclipse.
