MERRILL, Ore. — Three suspects are in custody after a high-speed chase with police, ending in a rollover crash. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, March 18, around 1:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Deputy Tom Hoy spotted a 2018 Toyota pickup matching the description of a truck stolen from Lithia Motors in Klamath Falls.
According to the Klamath County Sheriff’s Department (KCSD), Deputy Hoy attempted to pull the vehicle over, only to have the driver accelerate away. The deputy pursued the driver onto the Southside By-pass and then south onto Highway 39.
The driver of the Toyota accelerated to speeds nearing 100 mph, with the deputy still in pursuit. Police attempted to spike the Toyota’s tires early in the pursuit, but this was unsuccessful.
A second attempt to lay out spikes for the fleeing Toyota was being coordinated with the Merrill Police Department when the driver of the stolen pickup tried to pass another driver on the righthand side. Instead, the Toyota flipped and rolled multiple times on the shoulder of Highway 39.
Three occupants of the stolen pickup were arrested following the rollover: 24-year-old Adrian Garcia, 43-year-old Amiee Raines, and 37-year old Gregory Cox.
All three suspects have been charged for theft of the Toyota pickup. Garcia has also been charged with two counts of Second-Degree Assault, two counts of Reckless Endangering, Reckless Driving, and Attempting to Elude Police. Both Raines and Garcia were charged with parole violations and drug charges related to the possession or delivery of methamphetamines.
