SISKIYOU COUNTY- Cal Fire will soon transition out of peak fire season. Fire officials say recent rains across the region have greatly lowered the threat of fires.
Unit Chief Phillip Anzo wants to remind everyone that now is the time to get ready for next fire season. He says you should take advantage of the current weather and beef up your home's fire protection.
In California, firefighters battled more than 6,000 wildfires. That's 650 more fires than normal. In Siskiyou County, Cal Fire responded to about 160 wildfires that burned 38,000 acres.
