MEDFORD, Ore. — Stores in Jackson County will begin accepting bottle and can returns again on Wednesday, Representative Pam Marsh's office said this week.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, stores in Oregon had the option to refuse accepting container returns in counties that were under High Risk level or higher. Now that Jackson County has dropped to Moderate Risk, stores that discontinued returns will have to begin again.
“My office has received a number of inquiries from constituents who have been eager to recycle their bottles and cans, and who are frustrated by the closures. Thanks to the Bottle Bill, redeeming containers is an ordinary task for Oregonians, and it’s one more way we can get back to normal,” said Rep. Marsh.
The full-service Medford BottleDrop Redemption Center on Stowe Avenue remains open all week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for customers to make their returns through reverse vending machines. Green Bag account holders can drop off bags of containers at the Redemption Center and at the south Medford Fred Meyer.
