TALENT, Ore. — Bomb squad technicians from Oregon State Police removed a "suspected improvised explosive device" (IED) from a home in Talent on Thursday, according to the Talent Police Department.
Officers from Talent Police were helping Jackson County Parole and Probation officers in the search of a house in the 100-block of S 1st Street in Talent just before 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
"During the search, the homeowner (who was not the subject of the search), told officers that unknown suspect(s) left an improvised explosive device inside the residence overnight," Talent Police said.
The officers had residents evacuate the property and called in the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad. The bomb technicians arrived and removed the suspected IED to examine it for evidence.
"It will be rendered safe at another location if determined to be an explosive," Talent Police said.
The case remains under investigation, and police said that the homeowner is cooperating.
