Boatnik parade

The annual Boatnik parade is back on this year.

Posted: May 29, 2021 3:08 PM

GRANTS PASS, Ore.- Today the annual Boatnik parade was back on after being closed last year due to Covid-19. Although the parade was able to happen today, only 70 out of the 100 floats were allowed.

The two hour parade had hundreds of family and friends cheering and clapping the entire time.

"The parade didn't come alive till about a week ago, and so it would be this last minute. We had about 70 entries where we usually have about a hundred. The crowd was great, the kids had a lot of fun." Jim Thompson, Active Club Member

The Active Club also said that they had to plan out all of Boatnik not knowing if they were going to have the event or not. The parade was also a last minute add, only giving the Active Club a week to coordinate what floats would be in the parade.

"We planned the Boatnik essentially as if it was always going to happen, whether it did or not. We did as much planning as we could... It's not our first rodeo and we just got it together and made it happen."

If you missed out on the parade and festivities today, make sure you head out tomorrow and Monday. For a list of all the events tomorrow, or for more information on Boatnik, click here.
